Destination
Located just 60km south of Jakarta, and nestled between the Pangrango-Gede massif and the majestic Mount Salak, Bogor is often nicknamed the 'rainy city'. However, the city boasts some well-preserved historical buildings, including the Istana Bogor (the presidential palace), set dramatically in the centre of the city next to the beautiful Bogor Botanical Gardens, known local as Kebun Raya Bogor. The well-respected Bogor Agricultural Institute (IPB) has also branded Bogor as a student city. Beyond Bogor itself, the road leads upwards through a pristine landscape of rice fields, tea plantations, and vegetable farms, making a refreshing change from the bustling city. Here the visitor will also find Taman Safari, a wildlife park, and many other places for sports and recreation.
